Echurch

The United States of Whatever — do you still remember that song? Well, whatever is not just American lingo. It's international, actually. Everywhere is whatever territory nowadays. Even in church.

Whatever — when you hear the same old worship songs on Sunday mornings for the umpteenth time.

Whatever — when preachers, Bible teachers and believers worry about the same old sins of the same old bad people in the same old world in the same old manner.

Whatever — when far too many churchgoers live on a parallel universe with a bunch of very legalistic views of religion and others who don't believe exactly like them.

Whatever — when score boards across the globe keep telling us it's time to wake up, smell Jesus and become involved in the real world again... within real time.

Sadly, as the song says: "Some things will never change." In fact, some people will always remain stuck in their toxic habits, beliefs and their set ways of life. However, we who refuse to live the stuck zone do not have the "luxury" of being stuck. We must be Jesus' answer to yesterday's church dressed in today's religious disguise. Our very next response, after saying whatever, is to emigrate out of their parallel universe by beginning to connect with Jesus' favorite people out there in the real world. In case you wondered about his favorite people? Well, it's those who do not believe in him, actually. He loves them all the way back to his Father's House.
