Echurch

written by Stephan Joubert

Perceptions are deadly. Normally, perceptions are misrepresentations of the truth. They are formed by the media, including the Internet, and the remarks of others. For instance, when a few people tell you that all is not well in South Africa, then a certain perception about this is fixed or strengthened in your mind. If you don’t deliberately intervene with the perceptions that are continually served up to you, they will shortly determine how you think, feel and act. That’s why Paul teaches that we need to guard our thoughts closely. In 2 Corinthians 10, Paul writes that we need to immediately arrest destructive thoughts that are poisoning our souls. We also need to stay away from negative conversations. We should never lend our ears to poisonous fairy tales or general rumors.
