Echurch

Recently I was socializing with some young people. One asks out of the blue, "How do you know the religious person in any group?" While everyone wonders, he answers, "It is the one who judges everyone else!" Ouch! It never should have been like this. Jesus never meant for us to offend people with our premeditated advice and judgments. In the Sermon on the Mount, He says that our light needs to shine so brightly that people see the good and beautiful things that we do and then glorify our Heavenly Father for them. In short, we need to be magnetic. We need to be attractive Christians, not offensive religious people.

A while back I spoke to a contractor who is working on one of the highways of Gauteng. He told me how he has a bible study with more than 50 of his staff every morning before work. Just before six every morning they show up at work to start the day in the Lord's name. No, they don't use work time for this... Everyone gets up a little earlier in the mornings. Is that magnetic faith, or what?

Magnetic faith is also tangible in what a well-known person person recently wrote on Twitter — that He doesn't believe in God, but He does believe in a few Christians he knows. Their lives are living banner boards for Jesus. Isn't that beautiful? When we reflect the goodness of God, people cannot help but take notice of his grace. Then the words of one of my favorite 'tweets' come true again and again: "Don't tell people you're a Christ follower. Let them tell you that you are one."

Prayer guideline

In your prayer time today, contemplate the meaning of the words of Jesus that we need to be magnetic reflectors that moves attention to our Heavenly Father.
